Joy As The Road To Health

SELF-DEVELOPMENT:

THE JOY ROAD TO HEALTH

Mirth is medicine. The Spirit of Joy is Life. Cheer is health.

Don't load yourself down with trouble. Your thoughts become constipated with sad thinking before your bowels do. Your mind, choked with a blue funk of morbid notions, develops indigestion long before your stomach does. Your physical strength, burdened down by helpless and hopeless imaginings, fades away before your limbs give out.

Do away with brooding: Free your mind from self-thinking and your body from the bondage of sick thoughts and you'll be on the road to wellness. Quit talking to yourself and to your friends about sickness and death, and then health and happiness will naturally come to you. Receive them, freely sent to you!

Quit reading all about diseases: Mental troubles, bodily suffering, distress, and morbid sensations exist. Do not hide your eyes from these things, but also do not seek them out. When such matters are spoken of in your presence, or cross your path in life, compose a prayer of help or consolation, sending waves of health, happiness, joy, and recovery to the afflicted. Wish others well and you will wish yourself well. Talk it, and live it. Begin to love life, the world, and people. Become active helping others and forget yourself. Send joy!

Diet Plan: First, eat less. Eat slowly. Avoid heavy meats, intoxicants, excessive sweets, and any indulgences, such as rich pastry. Enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables in season. Drink a cup of hot water each morning on rising. Cut coffee or tea to one moderate cup daily. Do not fill up on sugary drinks; take healthful fruit juices instead. Never eat when sad or angry. Never ask for "seconds". Wholesome foods lead to cheerful, joyful thinking.

Nature Plan: Use sunshine. Strip and lie in it five minutes per day. Drink plenty of pure water. Practice deep breathing. Exercise daily, with dumb-bell weights if you can. Rub your body before retiring with a coarse towel that has been dipped in strong salt water and allowed to dry without wringing. Or take salt baths laced with bracing or healing herbs twice a week. Study the anatomy of your body. Keep informed of all new scientific discoveries about the body and the mind. Live outdoors. Get in love with Nature. Walk and play, laugh, and frolic. Allow your Sex Force to bring you happiness. Sunshine and exercise are what your body needs.

Joy Plan: It's the joyful person who gets well quickly and stays well. Slaves of habits, selfish, self-centered, and fearful people induce ills, disease, and suffering in themselves. This is not to say that all disease is self-induced, but certainly joyous health is in part a product of the mind. Falling ill is not a sin or a symbol of faulty faith, but resilience and recuperation are blessings that you can Affirm and Receive. Jolly your ills a few days; laugh at them and watch them run away. Substitute fun thoughts for your fear thoughts. A day of rollicking joy is often better than two doctors.

Practical Plan: The Joy Road to Health does not require that you suffer without medical attention because you cannot be cheery! Special cases need special advice. Many people in ill health will, of course, benefit from practical medical therapies. Many will benefit from special Inductive Thought Suggestions and Silent Prayers to uplift and sustain them. Ask the Crystal Silence League to send you prayerful spiritual assistance if your burdens are great - and do not refuse to see a doctor if you are in pain.
